EMPOWERING REFUGEE WOMEN IN HEALTH
Let's Address the Issue
Somali Bantu women and girls residing in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya face persistent challenges that compromise their health, education, and dignity. For over two decades, these communities have struggled with limited access to menstrual hygiene products, often resorting to unsafe alternatives like cloth scraps or paper. This lack of sources, coupled with inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities and pervasive cultural stigma, leads to health complications and various issues among women and young girls

Our Solution
Our Empowering Refugee Women in Health Program provides crucial support to Somali Bantu women and girls in the Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps. We focus on delivering feminine hygiene products and comprehensive menstrual health education, equipping women with the resources and knowledge they need to maintain their health. By creating a network of support and solidarity, we help women build confidence and resilience, empowering them to lead healthier lives in challenging environments.

ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Our Annual Back to School Bash Program goes beyond traditional educational support by hosting drives to raise funds and gather resources such as backpacks and school supplies. We collaborate with community partners who act as vendors, offering their services and promoting opportunities that might not be readily accessible to the communities we serve.
Our event includes free haircuts and hairstyles, teeth gem installations, and food, alongside providing free clothing. By bringing together a variety of resources and services, we aim to meet the diverse needs of the community, ensuring that families are equipped for a successful school year.
Black Youth Swimming Program

We are thrilled to announce that our Black Youth Swimming Program, in partnership with the YMCA, has secured a 2024 grant to provide free swim lessons to Black youth. This funding is a game-changer, allowing us to expand our efforts to promote water safety, fitness, and confidence among children. With this support, we are breaking down barriers and ensuring every child has the chance to learn essential swimming skills. We are excited to foster a lifelong love of water activities and build a community that values and prioritizes water safety education.
Empowering Moms & Sustainability Program
We understand how challenging providing for a family can be, especially for mothers who are doing it alone. Our Empowering Moms initiative is created to assist moms in the Kent community with access to free diapers and wipes along with other resources in the area. This distribution of baby/ child hygiene items occurs at the end of the month.
